Professor Jonathan I. Silverberg is the Founder and Chairman of the Foundation for Dermatology Education and serves as the Conference Chair of Revolutionizing Atopic Dermatitis. Prof. Silverberg is Professor of Dermatology, and currently the Director of Clinical Research and Director of Patch Testing at The George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences in Washington, DC.

Prof. Silverberg’s area of clinical subspecialty is inflammatory skin disease, particularly atopic and contact dermatitis. In developing a multidisciplinary clinic for atopic dermatitis, he includes providers from dermatology, allergy and immunology, neurology, and sleep medicine. His research interests include drug development, biomarkers, dermato-epidemiology, health services research, patient-reported outcomes, comorbidities and burden of inflammatory skin disease, and evidence-based dermatology. As a principal investigator at the local, national, and international levels, he has participated in numerous clinical trials, evaluating novel treatments for atopic dermatitis and other inflammatory skin disorders. Prof. Silverberg is also the author of more than 600 peer-reviewed articles, abstracts, books, and book chapters.

Frequently honored for his expertise, Prof. Silverberg is a recipient of the Young Leadership award from the American Dermatological Association, which he received in 2017. A respected educator, he received the Teacher of the Year award from the Department of Dermatology in 2015 and the Outstanding Teacher award from the Feinberg School of Medicine in 2016, at Chicago’s Northwestern University. He is also the inaugural recipient of the Georg Rajka Medal from the International Society of Atopic Dermatitis in 2014.

Educated at the State University of New York (SUNY), Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY, Prof. Silverberg received his doctorate in neuroimmunology, along with his medical degree and Master of Public Health degree in biostatistics and epidemiology there. Following completion of his internship in internal medicine at SUNY Downstate, he completed his residency training in dermatology at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital Center and at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York City.
